Biotechnology MINI-COURSE

Grades 8–12
Biotechnology is a one-week, laboratory based enrichment course for rising 8th through 12th graders. The course will start with a review of DNA structure and genetics. From there, students will explore the major techniques used to study DNA. This includes DNA extraction from plant and animal cells, pipetting, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis, and microarrays.  The only prerequisite for this class is a desire to learn!

Science Explorations NEWMINI-COURSE

Grades 6-8
Science is about exploring the world in which we live through an investigative lens! Field trips, investigations, problem solving, and utilizing the scientific method provide the foundation for this fun new course.  We will practice many skills from problem solving to writing, all while engaging in hands-on activities! Areas of science that may be covered range from environmental science, chemistry, engineering, all the way to physics!

Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, rowing, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
