Summer Lifeguard & Swim Instructor

The St. Albans Pool is looking for lifeguards and swim instructors for the summer of 2019 (Monday–Friday, June 10–August 9). Our program offers 8 weeks of swim camp and weekday, community lap swim times. We are looking for new, and experienced, lifeguards with professional demeanor capable of proper safety supervision and positive interaction with patrons. Instructors should be comfortable working with students of varied skill and age levels, as well be able to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment. Instructors will be expected to be in the water with students.

Qualifications for lifeguards:
  • Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/FA/AED certification
  • Punctual
  • Ability to clearly communicate and maintain rules and procedures
Qualifications for instructors:
  • Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/FA/AED certification
  • Past swim team experience preferred, but not required
  • Swim lesson instruction experience preferred
  • Comfortable working with students of varied age and skill level
  • Ability to be in the water and demonstrate as needed
All candidates will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with experience. Current D.C. certified pool operators are needed and encouraged to apply. The positions are seasonal and offer no benefits.

Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, rowing, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
