Skills Development, Grades K–1

Grades K–1
Designed to help the early learner be prepared for school in September, this course is open only to students entering grades K–1. Students will be exposed to strategies designed to ease the transition into the academic setting, as well as social aspects of the primary school years. This course is for non-readers or emergent readers and will focus on recognizing and writing numbers and letters, basic word attack skills, adding and subtracting single digit numbers, as well as listening skills, following directions, and getting along with others. All learning materials are included and provided by St. Albans. Students should bring a snack. At the end of the session, a short narrative report will be sent home outlining the student’s accomplishments and recommendations.

Skills Development, Grades 2–5

Grades 2–5
Each day, students & staff will spend time on reading and comprehension skills, language arts/writing, and mathematics. Short breaks for physical activity and snacks are built into the schedule. Students may take either three-week block, or both for a six-week learning experience. Open to children who are entering grades 2, 3, 4, or 5 in the fall.

Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, rowing, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
