Basketball Skills Academy *CO-ED 

The purpose of this camp is to give middle school girls & boys in the Metro area, an additional opportunity to continue to improve their basketball skill set in a fun, competitive environment. The camp will not only be focused on Basketball, but also have guest speakers come in to discuss proper nutrition, weight training and planning for your academic future.  Campers may select one or both weeks.

**Please note that Basketball camp ends 30 minutes earlier than other STA sports camps.

Eligibility:
Boys & Girls, rising 6th-8th grade (Approximate Ages 11-14)

Facilities:
Campers should report to Zone B (Herman Plaza) on Pilgrim Road. Camp will be held inside the Martin and Activities Gyms.
What to Wear:
  • Basketball shoes     
  • Basketball/athletic shorts 
  • T-shirt
  • Reversible basketball jersey or tank top (we will not be providing pennies this summer. Please have a reversible jersey with light and dark sides)
  • Sweatband/headband and small towel
What to Bring:
  • Refillable Water bottle 
  • Change of shoes to wear to and from the gym
  • Lunch
  • Hand Sanitizer
Director
Coach OJ Johnson is a 1997 graduate of St. Albans School. He received a B.S. in business administration from Georgetown University, where he also played varsity basketball and football. Mr. Johnson formerly served as the head basketball coach and athletic director at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. While he was with Wise High School, the Washington Post named him Prince George’s County Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2011. He was also awarded the MSADA District 3 Athletic Director of the Year in 2011. Now back at his high school alma mater, Mr. Johnson serves as head basketball coach, assistant director of admissions for Lower School, and director of the Skip Grant Program.   
Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
