Latin by Arrangement

Grades 6-12
Latin will be offered in a tutorial format. Sessions will be arranged in 1 hour sessions between 9am -12pm each day, with students taking 3-5 sessions per week depending on need. To submit your interest, please register online for the session time slot that you are most interested in. The Director of Summer Studies, will follow-up regarding your student's specific needs; however you may contact him in advance.
The tutoring (hourly) rate of $110 will be needed to reserve your student's spot. Once the schedule of participation has been determined, families will be responsible for the remaining payment, based on number of session days. Please note, the teacher may seek to group students of similar ability into same session.

Beginning Spanish

Grades 6–9 
This one-hour course serves as an introductory pathway to the concepts and best way to approach the Spanish language. Students will learn the sounds and how to read in Spanish. They will also gain understanding of: the basic verbs such as ser, estar and tener, vocabulary related to physical descriptions, family or house, as well as how to greet (Hola! & Adios!). Time will also be spent on learning to read and write a short paragraph.

Spanish I

Grades 8–12
An elementary course in Spanish for beginners and for those who wish to review first year Spanish, this course concentrates on grammar, verb drills, and vocabulary building, with oral work, reading, and writing. (Also listed for Upper School.)

Spanish II

Grades 9-12
A course for students who have finished Spanish I or who want to review second year Spanish, this course reviews the fundamentals of Spanish I, expands vocabulary, and increases facility through oral and written work. (Also listed for Upper School)

Conversational Spanish NEW

Grades 9—12
Conversational Spanish offers the possibility of using Spanish language knowledge in practice in a current and realistic way. Students will listen to podcasts, discuss different Latin American cultures, and debate among themselves about current issues. The purpose of this course is for students to practice listening and speaking to feel comfortable using the language. This course is suitable for both intermediate and advanced students as we will practice using our knowledge in a wide variety of contexts.

Spanish III

Grades 9-12
The goal of Spanish 3 is the study of grammar, vocabulary and cultures of Spanish speaking countries. Students improve listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students further develop reading comprehension skills through literature, oral presentations and written exercises. We will have different guests via zoom and different readings and documents related to the culture and tradition of different Latin American countries. Students will consolidate vocabulary and grammar through a final project.

Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
