Hidden History in the District of Columbia

Grades 7-11
This week-long summer course is designed to appeal to middle and early high school aged students with an interest in history. Each day we will visit out-of-the-way historical sites in the DC area and learn about their historical and/or cultural significance. We will utilize these historical sites as jumping off points for authentic instruction about the history of our nation. Each stop will include an opportunity for downtime and exercise outside.
Travel will be provided and lunch will be at historical sites (weather permitting); students should bring their own lunch.

Daily Schedule:
8:30 am- meet in classroom for orientation, bring lunch and appropriate clothing for the day
8:45 am- depart in STA minibus for site visits and lunch
12:30 pm- return to STA for intro to next day’s sites
1:00 pm - dismissal
Located in Washington, D.C., St. Albans Summer Programs – a combined summer camp and summer school for area and out-of-town boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12 – provides half- and full-day academic and art classes and athletic camps for football, golf, swimming, and tennis at state-of-the-art athletic facilities.
