Mr. Chandler's Handshake Challenge

St. Albans is serious about its traditions. Since 1931, when Lower School Head Alfred True first attempted the feat, St. Albans Lower School heads have committed to learning the names of every boy at a rapid pace.  Every new school year, just a few weeks after the first day, Lower School Head Mr. Chandler attempts the same challenge. Every morning in front of the True-Lucas Building, he greets students by name and a firm handshake, and gives them a smile and well wishes for the day. This year, the Lower School has 265 students to know. Mr. Chandler put his knowledge to the test last Friday, putting his trademark wager of a $1 gold coin for every name he misremembers on the line.
